The world's a joke

It’s been too long since The Android watched a movie at the theatres. So he did.

Zack Snyder did a brilliant job directing a movie that took 20 years to bear fruit, hindered mostly by script rewrites, production conflicts and nasty lawsuits.

Though the movie followed the comic book religiously right down to the story telling and character dialogue, Watchmen may not be for everyone.

Those who read Alan Moore’s masterpiece back in the 80s will love it. Rabid comic fanboys will love it. The Android loved it.

Hulk Smash!

Watched this fanboy flick with the Tribal peeps last night, and the 13 of us took out an entire row at GV Plaza.

Edward Norton is a dead ringer for Bryan Hitch’s frail and timid Bruce Banner in The Ultimates, but other than that, The Android feels that the actor’s talents are kinda wasted in this movie. Nonetheless, this is one heckuva revamp from Lee Ang’s 2003 emo flop, Hulk.

Be sure to look out for lots of references to the TV series starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. Ah… those were the cheesy days.

Comic fanboys might also realise what the desperate good people at Marvel are doing. “We’re putting a team together”, they say.

Nuff said!

This belongs in a museum!

When the Lucasfilm logo displayed itself at the start of the movie, The Android got the shivers. Not because he was finally going to watch this highly-anticipated movie after it took a 19-year hiatus, but due to the reminder of what Mr George Lucas was capable of after Star Wars Episode I, II and III.

True enough… the movie began to sink as the story progressed. It had nothing to do with an aging Harrison Ford, mind you. Indiana Jones is still the same old (no pun intended) archeaologist we all know and love. The plot that didn’t seem to know where it was heading, did the movie in. It wasn’t a bad movie, but definitely the worst in the series.

Negative reviews aside, it was still nice meeting you again Dr Jones.
