Need a shave?

Jerry’s birthday was briefly celebrated with a somewhat rushed meal at Billy Bombers’, followed by an evening movie at The Cathay.

Tim Burton’s latest directorial effort is a musical, based upon the 1973 play The String of Pearls and starring Oscar Best Actor Nominee, Johnny Depp. The Android speaks of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – a macabre tale of how vengeance can overwhelm and eventually blind a person.

Poor Jerry was traumatized after the movie. It’s a good thing The Android hates pies and has no need to visit a barber, or he might be traumatized too. Hahahaha! Oh wait… there was this one particular bit.

I FEEEEEEL YOUUUUUU, JOAAAAANA!

*Shudder*

Food

Monday Blues? Tired after work? Then it’s time to go hunt for food!

Shan and The Android wandered into the basement of The Paragon last evening like two lost souls and noticed that the famous Shimbashi Soba restaurant had NO QUEUE! Without a moment’s hesitation, the two lost and now hungry souls went in and sat themselves down.

Shan ordered soba that comes with a bowl of thick duck broth (cannot remember what it’s called). Might The Android remind you at this point, that Shan is not one to eat duck… and yet he finished everthing heartily. The Android had something else called the Hiyashi soba – cold soba slightly soaked in dipping sauce and served with chilled duck slices and a wobbly soft-boiled egg. Tasty, chewy and absolutely heavenly!

As expected of such Japanese eateries, the food here is a little pricey… yet, worth every cent! Be prepared to fork out about S$25 per head.

Every Sin Leaves a Mark

The Android watched his first movie in 2008 and it was excellent.

Along with Shan, Julian and Lin Yee, The Android headed down to Lido for a midnight screening of Eastern Promises, directed by the acclaimed David Cronenberg. This new thriller reunites the director with his leading man from A History of Violence, Viggo Mortensen.

Once again, Mortensen proves himself a brilliant actor playing the ruthless Russian thug, Nikolai Luzhin. This movie deserves a watch for its intriguing plot and characters, if not for its graphical violence. The Android shall give away nothing more.

Awesome stuff.
