At World's End

To kill time on this lazy Sunday afternoon, The Android decided to catch the third, and hopefully, final installment to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. True enough, the afternoon was murdered.

Curse of the Black Pearl was excellent with witty dialogue and fine character development. Dead Man’s Chest degraded into a deliberate attempt to make money at the box office with an overdose of CG effects. At World’s End was simply tiresome to watch. Like most movies that spawn multiple parts, this one should have stopped at the first.

If anyone is wondering, Chow Yun Fatt’s character was pointless and easily forgettable. However, The Android was extremely tickled by the cameo appearance of The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards. Now that was a riot.

Priceless

Went for a limited screening of the French movie Hors De Prix, or Priceless at Lido.

It was great to see Audrey Tautou speaking French in a French movie again, as it sure beats watching her speak in English and ending up muttering in French in a Hollywood movie. She plays Irene, a high maintenance gold digger who hooks up with bartender, Jean (Gad Elmaleh), after mistaking his identity for a wealthy suitor.

There is no doubt about Tautou’s stellar performance in this unusual comedy. Yet, kudos to Elmaleh, for his excellent portrayal of the terribly smitten Jean, whose chivalrous character will surely win many over.

Loads of fun. Definitely worth watching.
