Food

Due to Darren’s belated return from Taiwan, the makan gang had a belated dinner gathering last night to commemorate his one year in the Old Fart’s Club. Darren’s choice was to eat at Les Bouchons, a cozy little French bistro located at 7, Ann Siang Hill. How cozy? Our party of 8 filled up half the place.

The Android had the escargot for his entrĂ©e, which was served soaked in a pan of buttery olive oil and garlic. Although tasty, it was kinda weird eating the little critters with their shells already removed. For the main course, Curly and The Android shared the CĂ´te de Boeuf, a 1kg prime rib. That’s right, peeps… 1kg of pure bovine delight. Only attempt this if you are in a carnivorous mood. In fact, you should only eat here if you are in a carnivorous mood. Except for the tiger prawn main, everything else on the menu appear to be red meat! WOOT!

The Android also have to mention that their all-you-can-eat crispy home-made french fries are just so fuckin’ excellent. From experience, that first basket they serve you will probably be all-you-can-eat. It tastes so good just on its own. You just can’t stop munching!

The Android has got to stop eating like this…… cyke! HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!

Food

The time came to whet our gastronomical appetite once again. This time, The Android had a delicious dinner with Law & Ling at Shahi Maharani North Indian restaurant, located at #03-21B, Raffles City Shopping Centre.

The Android finds himself returning to this swanky place time and again (against financial restraint) … and for good reason too! Their tender and juicy Tandoori lamp chops are simply heavenly, whether you have them plain grilled or served with sauce. Order the chops along with Aloo Gobi (chopped cauliflower and potato cooked in dry curry) and some specialty naan (plain, butter or garlic) and you’re made!

You might also want to try their Murghi Tikka Masala if you like your chooks spicy, or the Chicken Makhanwala if you can’t take the heat. The Chicken Korma is also rather mild and is staple for its creamy cottage cheese sauce that goes extremely well with your naan.

Most of the patrons to this restaurant call to make their reservations, so you ought to do the same. Do not walk in and hope to get a table… chances are, you will be disappointed.

Sports

The selection for State of Origin II has been announced. This time with The Maroons moving into enemy territory next Tuesday. Guess what? The only change to the lineup is veteran enforcer Carl Webb coming back from injury to replace Antonio Kaufusi, who ironically replaced Webb in Origin I. Kaufusi’s hot-blooded display of heroics in Origin I resulted in a ruptured tendon in his right knee, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2007 NRL season. Yet, having a no-nonsense enforcer like Carl Webb as replacement is always good and warmly welcome.

Once again, the lineup is tentative. With try-scoring winger Greg Inglis down with fever and skipper, Darren Lockyer suffering from a badly bruised back, things aren’t looking as dandy as we would hope. Bear in mind also that Queensland has NEVER won in NSW ever since the venue was switched to the Telstra stadium and the jinx kicked in. Well, The Android says there is always a first time for everything… GO DA MAROONS!!!
